Modern is a broad label covering everything from mid-century lines to contemporary minimalism, and the useful question is which version suits how you actually live.
Chapel Hill's older housing stock and hilly, wooded lots make the delivery path more of a factor than in flatter, newer areas. Many Chapel Hill homes are older, with narrow original doorways, steep driveways, split-level layouts, and tight stair turns that affect what can reach an upstairs room intact.
Family owned and operated from 3921 S Miami Blvd, Durham, NC 27703, we cover Chapel Hill from a single 50,000-square-foot showroom rather than a chain of locations. Chapel Hill lies west of the showroom, typically a drive via I-40 west. Everything below reflects how we actually operate, including the parts that limit what we can promise.
Measure First, Shop Second
Before comparing modern pieces, settle a few things about the room itself. These questions decide whether a piece works, separately from whether you like it.
· whether open-leg pieces leave enough concealed storage
· how the finish reads against existing flooring
· whether low-profile seating suits everyone in the household
· how the piece relates to older items you are keeping
On a steep or wooded Chapel Hill lot, note where a truck can actually park; that detail shapes the delivery more than the room measurements do.

Delivery, Pickup, and Timing
· Changes to a scheduled delivery need 24 hours' notice, or the fee still stands.
· Choose White Glove Delivery and the crew handles indoor placement, assembly, and packaging removal.
· What delivery costs depends on where it is going and what is being moved, so the figure is quoted per order.
· Payment in full comes before scheduling, whether you are taking delivery or picking up.
· We use in-house trucks and staff rather than a third-party carrier, generally Monday through Saturday locally.
· Expect a designated day and about a three-hour window, with some variation on longer routes.
Two limits apply, and knowing them early avoids surprises. If a hallway, doorway, or stairwell makes maneuvering genuinely unsafe, the piece is set in the nearest suitable room and final placement is yours. The crew does not remove or relocate your existing furniture, so arrange that separately beforehand.
Open up hallways, stairways, and doorways beforehand, and let us know early about outside access problems. Secure children and pets while the crew is working, and check the order for accuracy before they leave.
Pickup runs by appointment only so your items are pulled and waiting. Chapel Hill customers should weigh the I-40 return against the size of the piece before choosing pickup. Confirm your vehicle's dimensions, bring moving supplies, and expect to handle the loading, which is not something the team does.
Merchandise can sit with us for up to 60 days after purchase free of charge, though unclaimed items beyond that may be donated to Restore absent a prior arrangement.

Timing, Financing, and Warranty
On timing: many items are in stock and available for immediate or same-day delivery or pickup. Special orders vary with manufacturer availability, holidays, and custom work; the team can give a clearer estimate at or before point of sale.
On assembly: factory-direct items need minimal light assembly and arrive with instructions, hardware, and basic tools; delivery crews assemble and remove packaging.
On financing: we work with Snap, Synchrony, and Wells Fargo, with options for a range of credit types with monthly payments, subject to approval and each program's terms. Snap advertises approval decisions in seconds and lease-to-own amounts up to $5,000. We accept financing, Visa, Mastercard, Discover, or cash.
On coverage: everything sold carries a manufacturer warranty, which varies by manufacturer, and an optional 5-year protection plan is available, priced by what is covered.
A Family Business, Not a Chain
Jenny, Scott, and their kids live in Apex, which is also where Capital Discount Furniture began. They built the business from the ground up, and they stay active in the community and with Hope Community Church, looking for ways to give back.
What that means for a Chapel Hill buyer is pricing set in-house rather than by a corporate office, sold factory direct and backed by a best price guarantee. The store has earned more than 1,300 five-star Google reviews along with WRAL Voters' Choice Award, Cary Living's Diamond Award, Indy Week's Best of the Triangle, and Cary Magazine's Maggy Award.
Brands on the floor include Southern Motion, Craftmaster, Universal Furniture, Liberty Furniture, LMCO, International Furniture Direct, Fusion Furniture, and Tempur-Pedic, among others. We also offer Renew Staging & Design, an in-house staging and design service.
Showroom hours are Monday-Friday 11am-7pm, Saturday 10am-5pm, Sunday 12pm-5pm. Call (919) 600-1994 to confirm a specific piece is on the floor before driving in from Chapel Hill. Se Habla Espanol.

Common Questions
Is there a charge if the truck cannot reach my house?
If the residence is not accessible to the delivery truck, moving the furniture from the truck to the home becomes the customer's responsibility. Flagging a narrow drive or access restriction when you schedule usually avoids the situation entirely.
Will low-profile seating suit everyone in the house?
Worth testing in person. Lower seat heights are harder for some people to get in and out of, which is exactly the kind of thing a showroom visit settles quickly.
Is modern furniture practical with kids or pets?
It can be, and the deciding factor is materials rather than styling. Ask about fabric performance and finish durability specifically, since those vary far more than silhouette does.
My Chapel Hill house has a steep driveway and narrow stairs. Will that be a problem?
Tell us before scheduling. Policy is that if hallways, doorways, or stairs make maneuvering unsafe, the item goes to the closest corresponding room and you handle final placement. Measuring the full path first, including the stair turn, usually prevents that outcome.
Does modern furniture have to mean minimal storage?
No, though it often looks that way on a showroom floor. Plenty of contemporary case goods carry full drawer capacity behind flat fronts. If storage matters, judge by drawer volume rather than by silhouette.
